Healing among the Timucua Indians. Different methods of native healing are demonstrated in this image, including, at left, a medicine man sucking blood out of a patient. On the right, a patient’s head is fumigated with fire and herbs to induce vomiting; in the rear, a man smokes “tapaco” to dissolve ‘evil humors.’
