Field Work

Fieldwork is an inherent part of the Center’s mission in growing the archival collections and a primary activity of the Research Division. We work with local organizations, students and the community to develop documentary skills and share cultural knowledge.

Ongoing fieldwork topics include an inventory of dancehalls of South Louisiana, wrestling culture in media, fiddle/violin construction, partnership in Grand Coteau Voices oral history presentation series, cross-Francophone cooking traditions, Lafayette Oral History, counter culture movements in Louisiana and Urban Mardi Gras traditions.

If you have an idea for a fieldwork project, want to volunteer on an ongoing project or otherwise support our efforts, please contact John Sharp.
