Part of Vermillion Parish was not in the Louisiana Purchase;
East of the Mississippi River was not part of the territory either;
The possibility for the U.S. to be three separate countries. England on the east coast, France in the middle, and Spain on the west coast;

Four genetic diseases among the Acadians: French Settlement's Disease, Deaf-Mutes;
One of A.J.'s neighbors lost his vision;
The Acadians have many diseases in common with Scottish, Irish, Celts;
A.J. is a pure Acadian. LeBlanc and Boudreaux on his father's side, Robichaux and Hebert on his mother's side. Married a Thibodeaux, but her mother was a Bearb (Irish). His son married a girl from Texas of German descent. His granddaughter is half German;

Sold it for $500, but he wanted the man to sign a paper stating the snake was still alive when he bought it. When he got to Lake Charles, the snake had died and the guy threw it in the water and it went into the marsh. The first year people were hunting in the marsh, they found it (dead) and couldn't figure out how a boa constrictor was in Louisiana. The New York Times wrote a big story about it;
