Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore House Concert

Renowned local musicians Megan Brown (T'Monde, Les Bassettes), Kristi Guillory (Bonsoir, Catin), and Chris Segura (Feufollet, Lafayette Rhythm Devils) will perform at a private residence on Friday, January 23, beginning at 7pm. Music selections will include a wide representation of holdings in the Center's Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore (ACCF), plus traditional compositions and modern interpretations of a cappella ballads. All proceeds from this event will be used to further the preservation mission of the ACCF.
The ACCF is the world's largest collection of Cajun and Creole folklore, field recordings, oral histories, and other folklife materials. Guillory, the ACCF's first archivist and producer of its Louisiana Folk Masters: Women's Home Music CD says, "The archives have given so much to me. The recordings have been an invaluable resource for my career. I'm excited to present some of the music that I've learned from the archives." Singer and guitarist Brown adds, "We are all so lucky to have access to the Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore. There's such a rich history ready for discovery. I love listening to interviews of older musicians and finding new old songs from the archives and adding them to my repertoire."
Tickets are $20 and are available for purchase through ACCFhouseconcert.eventbrite.com. For more information please contact the Center at 337.482.1320 or clspresents@louisiana.edu.
