Catherine Brookshire Blanchet Collection Details

Fieldwork of American author, educator, and pioneering folklorist who lived in and primarliy documented Vermilion Parish from the late 1940s-mid 1990s. The collection includes material documenting traditional dance, French folksongs, Cajun music, Creole music, and oral histories, as well as her collected papers researching these topics. Tapes include performances and interviews by Joe and Theresa Falcon, Lula Landry, Marie Lange, Mabel Touchet, Caesar Vincent, and many others.
