Guilbeau Center for Public History Collection

The Guilbeau Center for Public History, located in the Department of History at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, has received national attention for their originality and contribution to the field. This collection holds the fieldwork from the Recent Louisiana Disasters Oral History Project, including the Memories of the Lafayette Grand 16 Theater Shooting, Memories of the 2016 Floods, and Memories of Hurricane Harvey projects, which collected oral histories from 36 parishes declared federal disaster zones in Louisiana. Other projects include Oral Histories of Folk Medicine and a collaboration with the School of Architecture and Design on oral histories of the Green Book in Louisiana.
