Zachary Richard Bayou State Book Talk

Zachary Richard will be the April speaker for Bayou State Book Talks, presented by the Center for Louisiana Studies and the South Regional Library. Richard will discuss his poetry, including the recently re-released "Faire récolte," along with the two editions, one in French and one in English, of "Histoire des Acadiennes et Acadiens de la Louisiane/The History of the Acadians of Louisiana."

Born and raised in southwest Louisiana, Richard is best known as a singer-songwriter and musician, having recorded 20 albums, including gold and platinum records. He also is well-known as an environmentalist, a poet, the author of three children’s books, a documentary film producer, and founder of Action Cadienne, an organization dedicated to promoting Louisiana’s Acadian culture. He is is Louisiana’s first French language poet laureate.

Bayou State Book Talks is a free series offered by the Center for Louisiana Studies in partnership with the Lafayette Public Library System. The book talks are held each month during the school year on the second Tuesday from 6:30pm until 8:00pm at the South Regional Library, 6101 Johnston Street.
